Fresh out of starfleet academy, having graduated second in his class requested to be posted to Deep Space Nine beacasue he wanted to practice frontier medicine. After spending 5 years on DS9 he has made many friends including Miles O'Brien, Garak and Leeta. Bashir is a genetically enhanced human being, when he was 6 his parents took him to be genetically enhanced because he wasn't doing very well at school. This however is outlawed and his father is currently serving a 2 year prison sentance for the crime.
